This was a fun shoot – Prosthetic Records wanted some photos to commemorate the addition of Adam Clemans to the Skeletonwitch line-up, and they were in town recording with Kevin Bernsten of Developing Nations, so we did a quick session. They ended up needing to shoot a live video of them in the studio as well, so I helped out with that also, so some of my footage ended up in this:

Noisem photo shoot.
I love this band. One of the brightest spots on the Maryland heavy music scene, and a bunch of really awesome dudes as well. It’s been super cool to watch their careers rise, and it’s totally deserved as their records rip (and each one is better and more nuanced than the last). Always fun to hang out and take photos for a couple of hours with this crew, and I think this set shows it.
Matmos “Ultimate Care II” Portraits
Constant audio innovators Matmos are releasing a new album, Ultimate Care II, that was completely sound-sourced from their washing machine. For the release, their label Thrill Jockey had me work with them to create a series of promotional portraits. I have worked with Drew and Martin before and they are (of course) extremely creative as well as easy to work with, so I was really excited about this shoot. We played with some of things and tried to create a mix of images that ranged from your normal “band photo” to ones that were a bit more oblique or playful. Pretty happy with how this came out, and can’t wait for the album to be out – it’s really good!
Putrisect.
This weekend, I headed out to scenic Sparks, MD for a photoshoot with my friends in Baltimore metal band Putrisect. It was a great time, featuring classic suburban fun like sneaking into an abandoned building, drinking beer next to cars and being harassed by local teens. You can check out all the photos HERE and check out Putrisect’s tunes at their BANDCAMP PAGE. As always, get in touch if you need some band photos or portraits taken.
Dope Body.
AHUX (Aldous Huxley) in the studio.
Did a studio session at my Hampden studio with Baltimore recording artist Aldous Huxley aka AHUX, formerly known as Bigg Patch. Hit me up if you need photos for album art, promo, or the like.
Nadastrom.
The other day I had an extra twenty minutes (literally) between a photo shoot and a train I needed to catch so I shot these photos of my old friends Dave Nada & Matt Nordstrom, who make dance music together as Nadastrom. We shot these close to U Street Music Hall before their monthly residency.
Check out more photos of Nadastrom from over the years here.
Satan’s Satyrs press photos.
Shot some promo photos for Virginia doom/stoner/70s influenced rock band Satan’s Satyrs. Fun group of guys and I think we came up with some cool stuff. Check them out here.
Roomrunner band photos, 2014 edition.
I’ve known the Roomrunner fellows since they became a band and I’ve known Denny Bowen since he was in high school, back when his early bands Yukon and Economist used to play shows in my basement, usually at the request of Sean Gray, another old friend who runs Accidental Guest, the label that is putting out the new Roomrunner record. I think I have taken almost all of their promo photos, but this was the first time we did it not after a show and a lot of beers. It was still fun. Great fun, actually- rambling around the Copycat building, petting Dan’s cute cat, climbing up on the roof and dodging weird moss and horsecrab corpses (no joke).
Pentamon.
<img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8473/8407676168_8acbb9115f_z.jpg" width="640" height="438" alt="Pentamon .”/>
Last week I shot a few quick promo photos for electronic artist Pentamon down in DC. See all the Pentamon shots here.
Pig Destroyer 2012 promo shots.
Shot grindcore band Pig Destroyer for their label, Relapse. This is the first shoot with their new drummer, Adam Jarvis (of Misery Index fame). See all the photos from this shoot here. Continue reading
Baltimore band Hollywood.
Snapped a few shots of Baltimore’s own HOLLYWOOD on the roof of Sonar (RIP) during Death Fest. They are going to use them for promo, or something, I think. Check out the other shots and a bajillion more of the band here.
Tittworth Promo Shoot/Organ Harvesting.
This one was a fun one, and a long time coming. We dumped Jesse into a tub full of ice and played around with the props… that expression, I am pretty sure, was real. Probably after I asked him to keep his balls on ice for just a few more minutes.
Thanks to Evan Tanner for the location! That location usage eventually led to these photos. Graphic design on this by Raymond Klecker.
Arboretum band photos.
I did a couple of photo sessions with Baltimore band Arboretum to help promote their record on Thrill Jockey. Great guys, we had a lot of fun. See all the photos (or most of them) here on flickr!
Dan Deacon portraits for XLR8R Magazine.
I shot these with Dan in his house in… 2009? Wow. Don’t know why I never posted these. These were for XLR8R Magazine, which no longer exists in printed form (RIP). The fabric in the background is the fabric that was used (he had it hand-made) for the tent that is on the cover of Bromst (which was photographed by the lovely & talented Baltimore photographer Frank Hamilton).
War On Women – in the studio.
Baltimore band War On Women stopped into my studio the other day… we didn’t have much time but we had a fun shoot, I think some of these may end up on their new record, but I am not 100% sure. Get in touch if your band needs promo photos or the like.
In the Studio : James Nasty, Mickey Fortune.
I’ve done a few promo shoots in my studio lately for some Baltimore electronic music producers. Check out my Portraits & Promo Shots set on Flickr for more shots of them, and others. And contact me if you are interested in getting some portraits, head shots, or promo shots done!
