This was my first time at Hopscotch, and I had a blast. A really cool, eclectic festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, which is a nice town. All the fest venues are fairly close together in or around downtown, so it’s really low pressure, very fun and easy to see alot. I’ll definitely be back. Click on to see my favorite shots (as always, mouseover to see the band names). Continue reading

Exhibits from the Museum of the Moving Image, NYC.
I went and checked out the JODI exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image in NYC, and found out they have a pretty awesome permanent collection as well! (Pictured above is a life casting of the make-up for an aged Dustin Hoffman for Little Big Man). JODI are an artist’s collective that has been experimenting with making art out of new media, the web, and video games for… well since forever, basically. I really recommend checking out the show. See more of my photos from the show, and the permanent collection, here.
Dan Deacon at SXSW 2012.
Look at GSP go in that second photo! Whew, this is the end of my SXSW posts, this year I managed to finish before leaving for the following year’s fest, at least! This may be a first for me… See more shots from this show, and more, in my SXSW Day 3 set.
A$AP Rocky, Spank Rock @ SXSW 2012
Finally clearing the vaults of the last of my SXSW 2012 photos… to see more shots of A$AP Rocky and/or Spank Rock (plus plenty of others), click here.

DC Cherry Blossoms.
Going down to see the cherry blossoms is a big deal in DC. Somehow, even though I have lived near DC for 10+ years, I’d never done it, until this year. Pretty, and I had not realized just how big the whole area is, I sort of assumed it was a couple of trees… but actually they completely encircle the tidal basin! See more of my cherry blossoms shots here.
Lower Dens @ SXSW 2012
Trying to get all these SXSW photos out the door… but I keep taking more photos. It’s a never ending cycle… anyway, I saw Lower Dens play a day show at SXSW for the Sun. One of my favorite new Baltimore bands, really looking forward to their next record. The out of crowd town seemed to love them too, based on the response from the large crowd at this early show.
SXSW 2012 Day 2: Dan Deacon Ensemble @ Coup De Ville
SXSW 2012 Day 2: Sleepytime Trio Reunion.
See many more photos from this show HERE.
This was fucking awesome. One of the few things I said going into this SXSW that I had to be there for and, I think, the only one of those things I made it to (besides the always-amazing bridge party, which was shut down by the cops). Sleepytime Trio was a band I loved in my younger years, but never got to see, not sure if they ever even played Baton Rouge or not.
The show was great, completly chaotic and spastic… in the backyard of a dingy blues bar on the eastside of Austin. So fun. Jason Hamacher threw people around and did wrestling moves, so it felt like old times. Brian Lowit even got on the mic…. One of the most fun times I had this year at SXSW.
SXSW Day 2 : Dope Body
See all my Dope Body at SXSW shots here.
I woke up early on my second day to catch Dope Body play at Scoot Inn, at the Thrasher/Converse stage. So many sponsored stages this year. They were great and still full of energy, even bright & early, as you can see here: Continue reading
SXSW 2012: Day 1 – Mean Jeans, Night Beats, White Mystery.
See more photos of these bands and more here!
Three fun bands at one of my favorite places to see shows in Austin, Trailer Space Records. Trailer Space is my FAVORITE place to see shows at SXSW – always unofficial, always cool bands, always a chill/fun vibe, always no bullshit. This year I was there for the Burger Records Fest on Wednesday and it was great – flying beer (at one point a store worker/owner/person came up to the mic to declare “we sell records, so do not pour beer on the records”), fireworks, a dancing dog, tons of kids having fun and great music. So awesome.
A sad note is that I spoke to someone from Trailer Space over email and it seems as though they are in some hard times… so buy records there if you are in Austin! I asked if maybe they would have shirts for sale on their site again and they said they would let me know, I’ll post about it if they do… great place, I hope I can go again next year!
Summer in Montreal.
Last summer, Dana and I went to Montreal for a few days. Beautiful city, and it was a really affordable trip. Highly recommended if you have never been. Check out the rest of the Montreal photos here
North Dakota – Summertime.
North Dakota Winter 2012, Day One.
I am in North Dakota, visiting family. Today, my Dad and I drove around some backroads, looking at old run down buildings, cemeteries, and trying to spot some wildlife. This is the first winter I can recall where there isn’t a blanket of snow on the ground, which makes it harder to spot wildlife. We did find a cemetary from the 1800s, though, which was interesting.
See the rest of the photos here. I’ll be posting more over the next few days…
North Dakota, Day One.
I am in North Dakota. It’s pretty great here, even though there is flooding. Good food, animals, the weather is nice even though it’s a bit more humid than normal.
Flooding In North Dakota
The top photo is of the Westhope bridge, the last bridge across the Souris (Mouse) River. They have built the bridge up 4+ feet with rocks and sandbags and so forth. 10′ is considered a flood. It’s at 20′ in this photo and rising. The area with the guard rail, just past the speed limit 10 sign, is the actual bridge. normally the river is no wider than that.
The other photos show how the telephone/electrical poles are starting to tilt over, and a swimming muskrat (for the cute factor).

Noveltyhaus!
Last weekend, Dana and I stopped in at NOVELTYHAUS, the brand new retail space owned by Noel Danger (pictured above). Located at 1036 Light Street in Federal Hill in Baltimore, Noel stocks a variety of cool pop culture goodies, crafty items, imported Japanese toys, records, books… stop in!
Lake Isobelle, Colorado.
I went to Colorado this summer… such a beautiful state, it was hard to believe it’s real. See some more photos here.
North Dakota Winter Photos, part I.
Spending Christmas in snowy North Dakota. Last night it was -5 before wind chill, which is actually not bad at all. Last time I came, it was -24 the first night. More pictures to come, but for now check out the first batch here.
SXSW 2010.
A long time posting but I did the damn thing at SXSW this year and here are some photos. Pictured: the Dum Dum Girls, the XX, Dave Nada stagediving, me and one of the GWAR dudes, Dam-Funk, Major Lazer, Rye Rye, Haushka. This year was a lot of fun… even though it was freakishly cold!
