A text recap may or not be coming soon but here is the photo recap…

Look for the new issue of CMJ, coming out next month. I have the cover and two shots of Dan on the inside.
ALSO! Listen to Dan’s new album Bromst on NPR’s site. The whole album! It’s not even out yet.
Pig Destroyer shot in the Grindcore issue, on newstands now. You can look at the original shot here.
This weekend I went to the big ears music fest in knoxville. I saw so many artists, but the highlights were: philip glass, michael gira (swans, angels of light), christian fennesz (performing with a variety of collaborators), negativland (performing It’s All In Your Head FM), dan deacon and the baltimore round robin (ed schrader, cex, smart growth, adventure, dj dog dick, height)… It was a really great festival, small, low key, with the emphasis on the music and the artists and not a million sponsorships. Seriously, it was a great event and I really hope the organizers can keep it up with this level of quality in the future! Don’t miss out next year!
Oh yeah, and here is the full Big Ears set!
Here is a fun list of events I am RSVPing to…

This post will be updated fairly regularly, so check back…
Last night I went and saw Swedish performer Lykke Li at the “Historic 6th & I Synagogue” in DC. Great show. Live, she adds alot more drumming and dynamic sound versus the album… mostly at the hands of her backing group, a group of Swedish men who my friend declared as being the most handsome backing band in the world. The venue was seated-only, which at first I was put off by, but it was really cool. A totally different atmosphere than a rock club.
Art collective Wham City has been regularly having shows at it’s space Zodiac (formerly a resteraunt, right next to the Club Charles)… last week I stopped in to check out Dan Deacon performing some newer material and the new piece by Jimmy Joe Roche. Also performing was Adventure, (who has a split LP out now with Dan), but I didn’t get any photos during his set.
Jimmy Joe Roche (co-creator of last years’ Ultimate Reality performance piece/DVD and wicked Magic: the Gathering player)’s piece was CRAZY and deserves a special mention : he had loops of millisecond samples from metal songs, and video loops of various satanic imagery, all hooked up to a laptop… and a EKG, attached to his forehead. The EKG recorded electrical activity in his brain, and would make changes to both the audio and video images as his mood changed. Since he was thrashing in place and basically freaking out, you can imagine there was ALOT of activity! It was pretty awesome and really appealled to the dormant headbanger lobe of my brain.
Look out for the upcoming XLR8R feature on Dan Deacon, with photos by yours truly, for his appearance on Andrew WK’s new talk show, and for his new record BROMST.
Last weekend Publicist (Sebastian from Trans AM’s solo project) played at the Talking Head (along with the Taxlo DJs) for Simon Phoenix’s birthday. I have seen publicist several times in the past, but I think this was probably one of the better ones…

Last week, I covered the monthly house music party @ Paradox, Deep Sugar. Click here for the full set.
It is nice to meet you. I see you have found my site. I am glad you are here. I assume you are fans of Dan Deacon? If so, perhaps you would like to check out other photos I have taken of him?
Or perhaps… you would like to see my flickr account. Or perhaps you clicked on this by accident, in which case, check out this funny Youtube video! I love Tim Curry.
They started late, but they seemed in good spirits and like they were having a good time. I was worried that, with all the rumors of strife inside the group, this would be a somber affair, but they were all joking and smiling, Method Man stage dove several times, all in all it was a pretty great New Years present for me!
And, in the Club and VIP Lounge, Taxlo was holding it down as well… Adam Gonzo, Cullen Stalin, Blaqstarr, Sri Aurobindo and more…pictures of all that in the set as well.
Recently I shot several furniture items for local Baltimore furniture designer Marishka Designs. They are wonderful pieces, and it was fun to photograph them – and challenging. You can see one above, or more at the Marishka Designs web site.
Friday I shot Blisspop at the 9:30 club. It was a pretty wild party, with a photo area for saucy photos courtesy of BYT. It was good to hang out with Dakota (and watch him roll around with Ms Claus). Good times.
It was an interesting night – Sonar was transformed into a huge art installation. Band/theater troupes/entertainers/performance artists took turns performing for just a few minutes at a time, so you never knew where to go next. It was pretty exciting! I drank too much. I wish I had gone to the second night!
Last week I went down to DC to catch one of my favorite bands from the “old days” of Maryland Hardcore (the early 00s), Tradition Dies Here. Mikey is leaving town for a year or two to travel the world so they had this show in case it is the last one. Good times, old friends. Good luck Mikey!
Saturday night I trucked down to Silver Spring to venerable punk house/venue the Corpse Fortress to catch the reunion show(s) of The Chase, Breathe In Breath Out, At Best & Timber. It was awesome, I hadn’t been to a punk basement show in so long. I got moshed a bit, and was slightly nervous about having my gear in the “pit”, but it went well and was a lot of fun.
Highlights included the girl who lived there loudly hinting that everyone should get the fuck out of her house and no one listening, all the sing-a-longs, AFP from the Chase demanding that the Chase replay parts of songs over and over, the wall of death, and me convincing Ari Goldman that the box of free records was actually a donation box, then realizing I just conned Ari!
