New Year’s Eve @ the Ottobar.
January 2nd, 2007
New Year’s Eve at the Ottobar was a good time - a suprising amount of people showed up (suprising because I don’t think most of them like country)… will country be the next big hipster trend? Is it already and I just didn’t get the memo?
Regardless, it was fun… we also managed to get kicked out of Sonar and I even swung by Dionysus solo, since they were open til 6 AM!!! It was basically a SIN, though.

Actually a lot of the people there totally were people from the county who love country music… people stayed late and danced and made requests.
yes, country was a “hipster trend”(dumb phrase) about 2 years ago with lucero, drag the river, et all.

Why is hipster trend a dumb phrase? A year or two ago alot of people who had never heard of Sunn or Burning Witch suddenly fell in love with that stuff, but now are starting to no longer like it. Music genres gain and lose popularity in a fad-ish way regularly, whatever you want to call it.

Yeah, exactly. So what’s wrong with calling it a trend?

it is a trend.
I just think that when people say “hipster trend” they sound like elitest asses.

hipsters are just subsection of people who know what’s “cool” at the moment (as opposed to everyone else who is buying James Blunt CDs). i don’t see why you hate the word hipster so much.
