Last summer, Dana and I went to Montreal for a few days. Beautiful city, and it was a really affordable trip. Highly recommended if you have never been. Check out the rest of the Montreal photos here

 

Though it almost feels like summer now in North Dakota (nicest winter I’ve seen here ever), it’s not quite as nice as in the above photos. I took these when I was in North Dakota this summer for a family reunion.

I am in North Dakota, visiting family. Today, my Dad and I drove around some backroads, looking at old run down buildings, cemeteries, and trying to spot some wildlife. This is the first winter I can recall where there isn’t a blanket of snow on the ground, which makes it harder to spot wildlife. We did find a cemetary from the 1800s, though, which was interesting.

I am in North Dakota. It’s pretty great here, even though there is flooding. Good food, animals, the weather is nice even though it’s a bit more humid than normal.

The top photo is of the Westhope bridge, the last bridge across the Souris (Mouse) River. They have built the bridge up 4+ feet with rocks and sandbags and so forth. 10′ is considered a flood. It’s at 20′ in this photo and rising. The area with the guard rail, just past the speed limit 10 sign, is the actual bridge. normally the river is no wider than that.

The other photos show how the telephone/electrical poles are starting to tilt over, and a swimming muskrat (for the cute factor).

Last weekend, Dana and I stopped in at NOVELTYHAUS, the brand new retail space owned by Noel Danger (pictured above). Located at 1036 Light Street in Federal Hill in Baltimore, Noel stocks a variety of cool pop culture goodies, crafty items, imported Japanese toys, records, books… stop in!

Spending Christmas in snowy North Dakota. Last night it was -5 before wind chill, which is actually not bad at all. Last time I came, it was -24 the first night. More pictures to come, but for now check out the first batch here.

A long time posting but I did the damn thing at SXSW this year and here are some photos. Pictured: the Dum Dum Girls, the XX, Dave Nada stagediving, me and one of the GWAR dudes, Dam-Funk, Major Lazer, Rye Rye, Haushka. This year was a lot of fun… even though it was freakishly cold!

This weekend I went to the big ears music fest in knoxville. I saw so many artists, but the highlights were: philip glass, michael gira (swans, angels of light), christian fennesz (performing with a variety of collaborators), negativland (performing It’s All In Your Head FM), dan deacon and the baltimore round robin (ed schrader, cex, smart growth, adventure, dj dog dick, height)… It was a really great festival, small, low key, with the emphasis on the music and the artists and not a million sponsorships. Seriously, it was a great event and I really hope the organizers can keep it up with this level of quality in the future! Don’t miss out next year!

Oh yeah, and here is the full Big Ears set!

A few weekends ago (right around the same time my laptop died, thus the long delay), I made it up to NYC for CMJ, and to hang out with friends. Even though I had a badge (thanks, Citypaper), I didn’t make it to many sanctioned events… the highlights for me were the Unruly Records/Senari bash at Love, Ponytail’s performance at the Fader Fort, and of course just hanging out with friends. Then I go back to Baltimore to shoot at Virgin Fest and then the Toyota afterparty at Sonar w/ the Taxlo guys…
